Session 8: Introduction to IDL Meditation
Why it is important:
IDL Meditation develops sustained witnessing consciousness that integrates multiple perspectives and reduces reactivity.
Two varieties:
Observation of Skandhas
Naming
How it works:
Practicing non-attachment to thoughts parallels dream identification: the observer self expands while the drama of self-contraction diminishes.
Interview to Engage:
Interview “The Witness,” “My Restlessness,” or “Silence.”
Application/Homework:
- Practice IDL Meditation for 10–15 minutes daily.
- Consider EEG support: Flowtime headband and App
- Observe shifts in attention, emotion, and reactivity.
- Use interviews to explore obstacles to stillness.
