IDL Training Pathways

A Structured Progression from Skill to Clinical Mastery

Integral Deep Listening (IDL) training is designed as a step-by-step professional pathway.

You begin with a practical interviewing method you can use immediately—and, if you choose, continue toward advanced clinical application and specialization.

OVERVIEW

Three Levels of Training

  1. Interviewing Certification (2 months)
  2. Integration Training (12 months)
  3. Practitioner Certification (12 months)

Each level builds on the previous one:

  • from learning the method
  • to applying it across clinical contexts
  • to developing specialization and professional identity

LEVEL 1: INTERVIEWING CERTIFICATION

Learn the Method and Begin Using It Immediately

Duration: 2 months

This is the entry point into IDL.

You will learn a structured, repeatable interviewing process that allows clients—especially children—to engage directly with dream and fear imagery.

What You Learn

  • The step-by-step IDL interview protocol
  • How to ask effective, non-leading questions
  • How to work with dream and fear elements safely
  • How to manage emotional responses in session
  • How to apply the method to nightmares and anxiety

What You Can Do After Completion

  • Conduct full IDL interviews with clients
  • Apply the method to nightmares and fear-based imagery
  • Integrate IDL into your existing therapeutic work
  • Begin tracking observable client outcomes

Best For

  • Child and adolescent therapists
  • Trauma-informed practitioners
  • Therapists working with anxiety and nightmares
  • School counselors
  • Psychodrama practitioners

Outcome

A practical clinical skill you can begin using within weeks.

  • Select a population or clinical focus
  • Apply IDL in ongoing therapeutic work
  • Document and evaluate outcomes
  • Work with more complex cases

HOW THE PATHWAY WORKS

You are not required to commit to the full pathway at once.

Most participants:

  1. Begin with Interviewing Certification
  2. Apply the method in their practice
  3. Continue if the method proves effective

TIME & COMMITMENT

  • Interviewing Certification: ~2 months
  • Integration Training: ~12 months
  • Practitioner Certification: ~12 months

All levels are designed to be compatible with ongoing clinical work.
