welcome

Integral Deep Listening is rooted in the recognition that life itself is dreamlike. It emphasizes accessing emerging potentials in waking life and dreams, helping clients and children reframe life issues in ways that turn “stuckness” and suffering into clarity and a meaningful path forward.

While IDL accesses dreams and dreaming, it is broader in scope than dream interpretation. It is designed to support increasing clarity in all aspects of life, helping people wake up from the conditioning of childhood, culture, and inherited worldviews. These “scripts” often go unnoticed, or they can feel like collective illusions. Dreams provide an effective shortcut for accessing and transcending them. By cultivating personal wakefulness, you can also build communities of friends, colleagues, and family members who are committed to mindful living.

In today’s world, it is more important than ever to learn how to follow the innate priorities of your unique life compass and to help children and caregivers do the same for themselves. IDL teaches practical, fun, and simple tools to support awareness, growth, and personal transformation, one person at a time, fostering clarity, insight, and conscious engagement with life.

About Dr. Joseph Dillard

Joseph Dillard is a psychotherapist, author, and educator with over forty years of clinical experience treating individual, couple, and family issues. Joseph also has extensive experience with pain management and meditation training. The creator of Integral Deep Listening (IDL), he is the author of over twenty books on escaping life drama, waking up, dreaming, Dream Sociometry, nightmares, near death experiences, and meditation.

About a year ago, I was introduced to Joseph who has transformed my engagement with the transpersonal, and how I navigate the threshold of being in between this world and that realm behind the veil—what Spellers call the Hill on The Telepathy Tapes, some might call the astral plane, others, the Akashic records. I liken it to the edge of chaos where a universe is being born… all of it, the same place.

Welcome to Integral Deep Listening

Integral Deep Listening (IDL) is a method for engaging lived experience with curiosity, empathy, and clarity. Whether you are a clinician, parent, caregiver, or learner, IDL provides tools to understand dreams, nightmares, stress, and internal experiences safely and ethically.

IDL is grounded in phenomenology and developmental science. It respects the uniqueness of each individual’s experience, offering guidance that is non-prescriptive yet structured. By listening deeply — to oneself, to children, or to clients — you can foster insight, emotional integration, and transformative growth.
