Submit an Adaptive Experiment

SUBMIT AN ADAPTIVE EXPERIMENT

Every Experiment Contributes to the Investigation

IDL is an ongoing research program exploring how individuals, organizations, and civilizations maintain adaptive responsiveness under changing conditions. When you submit an Adaptive Experiment, you contribute to a growing body of observations that others can learn from. You are contributing evidence, not submitting homework.

Your experiment does not need to be successful. Unexpected, contradictory, and unsuccessful experiments are often the most valuable because they reveal assumptions that deserve further investigation.

The objective is not to prove the theory. It is to improve our understanding of adaptive emergence.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT

Please complete the entire Adaptive Inquiry Cycle.

✔ Tetra-Mesh Evaluation

Only then submit your observations.

SUBMIT YOUR EXPERIMENT

Use the following template.

Title

A short descriptive title.

Example: “Delaying Interpretation During Difficult Conversations.”

Question I Was Exploring

What adaptive question motivated the experiment?

Related Book

  • Development Trap
  • Harmony Trap
  • Adaptive Civilization

Chapter

Chapter number and title.

Inquiry Invitation

Which Inquiry Invitation inspired the experiment?

Behavioral Experiment

What exactly did you do? Describe the behavior rather than your interpretation.

What Happened?

What actually occurred?

What Surprised You?

What did you expect? What differed?

Tetra-Mesh Review

UL: What changed internally?

UR: What changed behaviorally?

LL: What changed in relationships?

LR: What changed organizationally or systemically?

What Recommendation Emerged?

Did the experiment generate a new recommendation?

What Will You Test Next?

Every experiment should generate another question.

SHARE WITH THE COMMUNITY

You may choose one of three levels of participation.

○ Private: Visible only to the IDL research team.

○ Community: Shared with other members.

○ Public: May be published (with editing if necessary).

COMMUNITY RESEARCH QUESTIONS

Current investigations include:

  • Maintaining curiosity
  • Deep listening
  • Dream interviewing
  • Face and legitimacy
  • Role flexibility
  • Adaptive governance
  • Psychological geocentrism
  • Triangulation
  • Selfless reorganization
  • AI-assisted inquiry

You are welcome to suggest additional research questions.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Every submitted experiment becomes part of the IDL Research Laboratory. As patterns emerge across many experiments, we will periodically publish Research Findings summarizing:

  • recurring observations
  • surprising results
  • failed hypotheses
  • successful behavioral experiments
  • unanswered questions

In this way, individual experiments contribute to a growing body of adaptive knowledge.

OUR COMMITMENT

IDL is not attempting to prove itself correct. We are attempting to become increasingly corrigible. Experiments that challenge IDL are just as valuable as experiments that appear to support it. Adaptive inquiry depends upon the continual participation of perspectives capable of correcting our assumptions.
