Who doesn’t have money worries? The challenge is how to not only not let those worries steal the quality of life but to learn to actually thrive in circumstances that others would find desperate. If this sounds impossibly naive, remember that religious renunciates like Buddhist monks have for centuries made an art of not letting finances determine their state of mind. You can too. But how?
In the following interview, Amber gets in touch with a part of herself that doesn’t worry about money and discovers that it is not only happier than she is, but that can teach her those skills. If Amber can do it, you can too!
1) What are three fundamental life issues that you are dealing with now in your life?
Money
Schooling and career direction
Physical back issue
Which life issue brings up the strongest feelings for you?
Money
If those feelings had a color (or colors), what would it be?
Black
Imagine that color filling the space in front of you so that it has depth, height, width, and aliveness. Now watch that color swirl, congeal, and condense into a shape. Don’t make it take a shape, just watch it and say the first thing that you see or that comes to your mind: An animal? Object? Plant? What?
Hourglass
Now remember how as a child you liked to pretend you were a teacher or a doctor? It’s easy and fun for you to imagine that you are the shape that took form from your color and answer some questions I ask, saying the first thing that comes to your mind. If you wait too long to answer, that’s not the character answering – that’s YOU trying to figure out the right thing to say!
Black Hourglass would you please tell me what you look like and what you are doing?
I’m large; I’m running out, I’m running back and forth
What do you like most about yourself? What are your strengths?
I can change up and down, back and forth, I’m contained, and I’m strong
What do you dislike most about yourself? Do you have weaknesses? What are they?
Trapped, I’m finite, I can’t be added to
Black Hourglass, if you could be anywhere you wanted to be and take any form you desired, would you change? If so, how?
Yes, Love the sand to be the beach, the ocean, blue
Blue Sandy Beach, you are in this person’s life experience, correct? They created you, right? Blue Sandy Beach, what aspect of this person do you represent or most closely personify?
Hope
(Continue, answering as the transformed object, if it chose to change.)
Blue Sandy Beach, how would you score yourself 0-10, in confidence, compassion, wisdom, acceptance, peace of mind, and witnessing? Why?
Confidence: 10, powerful, flowing, easy going
Compassion: 2, little regard, just do what I want do what I will
Wisdom: 10, again, I do what feels right, to follow, be accepting and open
Acceptance: 5, something missing
Inner Peace: 5, on the surface appears calm, something underneath, hiding something
Witnessing: 7, tied to inner peace, something hidden, that is churning, an empty space
Blue Sandy Beach, if you scored tens in all six of these qualities, would you be different? If so, how?
Yes, I would be calm throughout, would give regard to what my motions and actions did, I would feel complete
Blue Sandy Beach, how would the life of the person who created you be different if he/she naturally scored high in all six of these qualities all the time?
She would have less fear and doubt, more trust in herself
Blue Sandy Beach, if you could live the life of the person who created you for him/her, how would you live it differently?
More consistently more focused, mostly with less drama, ease,
Blue Sandy Beach, if you could live this person’s waking life for him/her today, would you handle his/her three life issues differently? If so, how?
Less blame, more faith, less pushing just allowing
Blue Sandy Beach, what three life issues would you focus on if you were in charge of his/her life?
Health, control, relationships
Control: feeling like she has to be in control, trusting others to do what they need to do, controlling every minute doesn’t mean you’re in control: nothing would change if she didn’t have control: really about being happy with what she has and not trying to fix everything.
Blue Sandy Beach, in what life situations would it be most beneficial for this person to imagine that they are you and act as you would?
Health, less judgment, more peacefulness and then consistency, patience
Blue Sandy Beach, why do you think that you are in this person’s life?
To teach her to trust, to be deeper, to flow
Blue Sandy Beach, how is this person most likely to ignore what you are saying to them?
She thinks she knows better; she likes to push, to force; she’s impatient,
More faith: surround herself with those who see what she sees or wished to see, change
Amber, what have you heard yourself say?
It seems like it’s all about being peaceful, stop trying so hard, patience
Amber, if this experience were a wake-up call from your soul, what do you think it would be saying to you?
Relax
The homework for Amber would be for her to practice becoming Blue, Sandy Beach, especially when she finds herself worrying about money or needing to relax.
Integrating self-aspects takes focused re-emersion in their perspective, their identity, for at least 62 seconds every day for at least 21 days.
What do you need to do differently to live your life from a place of inner peace and abundance, regardless of your external, financial circumstances?
