A Fire Teaches Self-Confidence and Overcomes Insomnia

What are three fundamental life issues that you are dealing with now in your life?

1 Fear

2 Insomnia

3 Resign from a dance club I’m a member of.

Which issue brings up the strongest feelings for you?

Fear

If those feelings had a color (or colors), what would it be?

Red

Imagine that color filling the space in front of you so that it has depth, height, width, and aliveness.

Now watch that color swirl, congeal, and condense into a shape. Don’t make it take a shape, just watch it and say the first thing that you see or that comes to your mind: An animal? Object? Plant? What?

Fire – terrible faces in the fire!

Now remember how as a child you liked to pretend you were a teacher or a doctor?  It’s easy and fun for you to imagine that you are the shape that took form from your color and answer some questions I ask, saying the first thing that comes to your mind.  If you wait too long to answer, that’s not the character answering – that’s YOU trying to figure out the right thing to say!

Fire, would you please tell me about yourself and what you are doing?

I contain very angry faces that are attacking.  They have fire teeth and red and yellow dancing flames.   I am around her in the room and around her body.

What do you like most about yourself? What are your strengths?

I am powerful and I burn!  I can burn anything!

What do you dislike most about yourself? Do you have weaknesses?  What are they?

I produce drama.  Marilyn wants to move away from me.  She puts something over her, like a cloak so that I can’t attack her. She stops feeling me.  She can’t feel anything else then.  That’s the problem.  When she shuts me out she goes numb and becomes depressed.

Fire, you are in this person’s life experience, correct?  They created you, right?   What aspect of this person do you represent or most closely personify?

Fury!  To fight against someone because they attacked me.

Fire,  if you could be anywhere you wanted to be and take any form you desired, would you change?  If so, how?

I want to burn the cover she puts on and come directly into her; deep into her heart and her brain.  She has to really burn!

(Continue, answering as the transformed object, if it chose to change.)

(Character), how would you score yourself 0-10, in each of the following six qualities:  confidence, compassion, wisdom, acceptance, inner peace, and witnessing?  Why?

Confidence: 10 I don’t have any fear!

Compassion:   0

Wisdom:   5

Acceptance:   5

Inner Peace:   0

Witnessing:   3

Fire, if you scored tens in all six of these qualities, would you be different?  If so, how?

I wouldn’t be a furious fire!  Perhaps I would be a warming fire.

Would you prefer to be a furious fire or to change?

It’s important for Marilyn to hear from me, the fighting, furious fire.

How would Marilyn’s life be different if she naturally scored like you do in all six of these qualities all the time?

She would wouldn’t have any fear!  She would do her work better.  She wouldn’t always have fear working in her mind.  She wouldn’t feel that other people would be attacking her.

If you could live Marilyn’s waking life for him/her today, would you handle Marilyn’s three life issues differently?  If so, how?

There would be no fear.  If there was reason, I would attack!

How would you attack?

I would set boundaries!  She would feel good about herself and being alive.

Do you have insomnia?

No. I have no fear!  If I want to sleep I can! There is no reason for me not to do what I want.

If I were Marilyn I would not have insomnia because I wouldn’t be afraid!

Resigning from dancing:  I dance!  Marilyn is in a club that is very boring.  People are not so interesting for her.  I would resign from the dance club.

What three life issues would you focus on if you were in charge of Marilyn’s life?

The same!

In what life situations would it be most beneficial for Marilyn to imagine that she is you and act as you would?

When she feels fear.  She doesnt’ feel the fear first. First she feels nothing. That’s depressive.  The cloak over her is blocking everything. She stops being aware.  When THAT happens she has to go into the fear and fight through the fear.

Fire, imagine you are in Marilyn’s heart and mind. What does that feel like?

Liberating!  It’s a big space!  Marilyn feels expanded!  It brings magic!

Fire, do you do drama?  If not, why not?

I don’t do drama?  I love to expand, not to get caught up in all these petty relationships of rescuer, persecutor, and victim!

What is your secret for staying out of drama?

My secret is that I fight!  I don’t fight in the old drama, though.  I don’t listen to voices of my parents like she can do!

Why do you think that you are in Marilyn’s life?

I’ve been waiting for this moment for years and years!

How does it feel to be listened to now?

Very good!  I  hope she will listen more to me!

How is this person most likely to ignore what you are saying to them?

She will be comfortable and not fight!  She will think it’s normal to be normal to be small and scared!

What would you recommend that they do about that?

I think it’s not time to sleep and miss feel this wonderful expansiveness.  She has a choice!

Marilyn, what have you heard yourself say?

I felt a great expansiveness!  The fear goes away!  When I have the depressive feeling, closed in, I need to think of the fire and let it burn through into me.  To not have fear of the fear.  To confront my fear.  Let it go through my covering and into me!  Until I am all clear,  When someone attacks me, to fight for my rights.  To clear my mind against the old feeling that nobody wants me.

Do  you care if anyone wants you or not, fire?

No!  You can’t hurt me!!!! I do not ask this question!  Her life would be much more powerful and light!

If this experience were a wake-up call from your soul, what do you think it would be saying to you?

“GIVE ME SPACE!!!  GIVE ME ROOM!”

Notice that this self-aspect only scores high in one quality, self-confidence.  In the others it is only average or lacks the quality entirely.  What this tells us is that this self-aspect thinks this person needs to focus her energies on one core quality specifically and completely, and be much less concerned about the others than she normally is, if she wants to access its expansiveness, set boundaries, and overcome her insomnia.
