Embraced by the Sea

What are three fundamental life issues that you are dealing with now in your life?

1. Deepening my meditation

2. A greater sense of abundance

A greater sense of cosmic humor

A greater sense of luminosity

Tell me a dream you remember.  It can be an old one, a repetitive dream, a nightmare, or one that you’re sure you understand.

Claudia has the sea in a jar. It is clear, blue, and full of sea life – fish of all varieties. Somehow she is able to expand that life in that jar and fill the world with it. I am in the midst of the wonder of it. I am concerned that I will limit or destroy it somehow, but I do not.

Why do you think that you had this dream?

I am presently on vacation by the sea, the Baltic. I am meditating a lot by the sea.

If this dream were playing at a theater, what name would be on the marquee?

Embraced by the Sea

These are the characters in the dream, beside yourself…

Claudia, jar, sea, fish, world

If one character had something especially important to tell you, what would it be?

The sea

Now remember how as a child you liked to pretend you were a teacher or a doctor?  It’s easy and fun for you to imagine that you are this or that character in your dream and answer some questions I ask, saying the first thing that comes to your mind.  If you wait too long to answer, that’s not the character answering – that’s YOU trying to figure out the right thing to say!

Sea, would you please tell me about yourself and what you are doing?

I am in this jar at first and then I am everywhere. I am a home for an astounding variety of beautiful and prolific life.

What do you like most about yourself? What are your strengths?

My clarity. My pervasiveness. How I nurture everyone and everything.

What do you dislike most about yourself? Do you have weaknesses?  What are they?

No.

Sea, you are in Joseph’s life experience, correct?  He created you, right?  Sea, what aspect of Joseph do you represent or most closely personify?

I am a depiction of his life force, of the source of his energy and his existence. I am everywhere.  I am in everything. Everything springs from me. Everything grows in me. Everything returns to me.

Sea, if you could be anywhere you wanted to be and take any form you desired, would you change?  If so, how?

No. I suppose I could become a fish, but I already contain them. I could become the jar, but why? That limits me. I could become the sky, the Earth, or space, and those might be good and fun, but I like myself. I like being me!

(Continue, answering as the transformed object, if it chose to change.)

Sea, how would you score yourself 0-10, in confidence, compassion, wisdom, acceptance, peace of mind, and witnessing?  Why?

Confidence: 10 I can’t die, hurt, or fail. What’s there not to be confident about?

Compassion: 10 Would that you had a fraction of the compassion I have for all living things!

Wisdom: 10 I’ve been around a long time. I’ve seen everything be born, grow, live, and die within me. I see and understand the drama of life and death.

Acceptance: 10 What’s there not to accept?

Inner Peace: 10 Storms may whip up my surface; strong currents may run deep. None of it affects who and what I am.

Witnessing: 10 I never sleep! I witness everything!

How would Joseph’s life be different if he naturally scored like you do in all six of these qualities all the time?

He would be where he wanted to be in consciousness. That doesn’t mean that he would be where he wanted to be in any other area, though, because he is conditioned by his body, his past, and his cultural context in ways that I am not. However, I would predict that those other areas would grow in my direction as well.

If you could live Joseph’s life for him, how would you live it differently?

I think he’s on track but I’m not hard on myself. He tends to be too hard on himself. It wouldn’t hurt him at all to lighten up a bit. Remember that life is a cosmic joke!

If you could live Joseph’s waking life for him today, would you handle his three life issues differently?  If so, how?

1. Deepening my meditation: Become me. I’m always meditating!

2. A greater sense of abundance: Become me. If anything’s abundant, I’m it!

A greater sense of cosmic humor: Remember this dream when you get caught up in drama. If you realize how grandiose it is to think you could be powerful enough to harm me, you’ll laugh at yourself!

A greater sense of luminosity: Remember the clarity and spaciousness of me. Remember those same qualities are inside you as well. Your fluids have my salinity. You evolved out of me.

What life issues would you focus on if you were in charge of his life?

Those will do just fine!

In what life situations would it be most beneficial for Joseph to imagine that he is you and act as you would?

You are working on breaking up your addiction to your waking identity by doing a more thorough job of becoming high scoring self-aspects in your daily life. I think this is a good project and I support you doing it with me.

Why do you think that you are in Joseph’s life?

To help him see that the consciousness he seeks is already right here, right now. To help him laugh at the drama of his fears that he can block or hurt that consciousness. He’s not that powerful!

How is Joseph most likely to ignore what you are saying to him?

Move on to the next interview? Not take seriously the opportunity to become me throughout his normal day?

What would you recommend that he do about that?

Follow the plan!

I think Joseph had this dream because

As above.

I think this dream event happened or (some character) was in the dream because…

Claudia loves the sea. Although it may be a limited relationship, it is constant. Your relationship is not so limited, but it is not nearly as constant.

What have you heard yourself say?

I will benefit from becoming this sea.

If this experience were a wake-up call from the most central part of who you are, what do you think it would be saying to you?

Connect to the source of your life!

Notice that this Sea is not a primeval, unconscious ocean. It has the level of awareness of the dreamer plus the added awareness of its own that the dreamer does not normally identify with, but exists as genuine potential.
